Section 285
Not to be a criminal nuisance

(1) No person shall commit or cause criminal nuisance.
(2) For the purpose of sub-section (1), a person shall be deemed to have committed a criminal nuisance if he does any of the following:-
(a) with the intention of causing any harm, loss or damage to the Government of Nepal, the State Government or the local level, any organization wholly or mostly owned or controlled by the Government of Nepal, the State Government or the local level, knowing or believing that such damage may be caused to the general public or any person; If any government, public or private property is destroyed due to intentional causes or by negligence or carelessness, or if any work is done to reduce its value, importance or utility,
(b) causing damage, loss or undue damage to public or private sewers, drains, culverts, bridges, roads, bridges or any means of communication or transport etc. or do any act that causes damage,
(c) destroys, removes, defaces or defaces any sign or mark placed for public convenience except by order of the competent authority,
(d) If by spreading false rumors or by using any means to deceive others, interferes with the business or business of another or damages the reputation of another's business,
(e) concealing or maliciously delaying the delivery of another's letter, notice, draft or any other goods.
(3) A person who commits an offense under sub-section (1) shall be punished as follows:-
(a) National parks or reserves or protected areas, historical or archeological monuments or pillars included in the World Heritage List, places or museums where historical or archeological important items are collected and kept for the purpose of destroying the existence of any wild animal or plant species protected by the Government of Nepal or protected according to law, Archives where historical documents are kept, military or paramilitary houses or places where military or police weapons and equipment are kept, security printing house, coin minters, etc.Arkhana, bank note printing or stockpiling warehouse of Nepal Rastra Bank, if set on fire or use explosives, life imprisonment and fine as per Vigo,
(b) Historical, archaeological or religious monuments or pillars, buildings containing documents of public or government importance, courts, constitutional bodies, government of Nepal, provincial government or local level office or government of Nepal, provincial government or local level other than those mentioned in clause (a) If he commits a criminal nuisance by setting fire or using explosives in an organization that has full or majority ownership or control, a foreign diplomatic mission or the office of an international or intergovernmental organization, imprisonment for five to twelve years and a fine as per Vigo,
(c) If he commits criminal nuisance by doing any act other than as mentioned in clause (a) or (b) by causing damage to any public property, imprisonment for a term which may extend to four years and a fine which may extend to forty thousand rupees,
(d) Imprisonment for two years to five years and fine ranging from twenty thousand to fifty thousand rupees for setting fire to someone's house, office or any property or causing criminal nuisance by using explosives,
(e) For causing any harm or damage to anyone by doing any other act other than what is written in Clause (a), (b), (c) or (d), imprisonment up to three years and a fine up to thirty thousand rupees.
(4) In case of any loss or damage caused by the offense under this section, compensation equal to the amount of the loss shall be paid to the victim by the offender.
